Marketplace Platform

Helping aviation professionals hire with confidence.

BizJetJobs redesigned the hiring experience for business aviation by making it easier for professionals to discover opportunities and for employers to connect with qualified candidates.

Finding the right opportunity shouldn't feel like searching for a needle in a hangar. Unlike traditional websites, marketplace products succeed only when every participant receives value — candidates need to quickly discover meaningful opportunities, and employers need qualified applicants without competing against inconsistent listings and unclear information. The work wasn't simply improving usability. It was creating an ecosystem that balanced both sides while building confidence across the entire hiring journey.

Why It Mattered

Before the answer, the tension that demanded one.

Designing for two users meant solving one shared problem. Every marketplace exists because two different groups rely on one another, and improving the experience for one side only matters if it also improves outcomes for the other. Every product decision was weighed against both audiences at once.

01

Two audiences, one product

Candidates and employers had different goals but shared the same outcome — a confident match. Every decision had to serve both.

02

Trust as the real currency

Marketplaces only grow when participants believe the other side is real, qualified, and worth their time.

03

Discovery before features

If the right opportunity couldn't be found quickly, no feature downstream could recover that lost confidence.

04

A foundation built to scale

Patterns had to hold up as listings, employers, and product surfaces grew well past launch.

Marketplace products only grow when trust, visibility, and discovery improve together.

BizJetJobs combines a pilot's verified credentials with an operator's open role, evaluates type, region, and availability, and produces a match-confidence score before interview and hire.

One connected pipeline—from the pilot's first application to the operator's signed offer. Every credential, type rating, and preference flows through the same matching layer, so hiring decisions feel less like guesswork and more like a briefing.

The Opportunity

The betsthat earned the build.

Problem

The hiring experience felt fragmented. Candidates struggled to discover relevant opportunities, and employers had no clean way to stand out to the qualified applicants they actually wanted to reach.

Opportunity

Treat the platform as a marketplace, not a job board. Strengthen discovery, trust, and storytelling on both sides so the experience created value through better matches — not more listings.

Outcome

A scalable marketplace experience that improved discovery, simplified hiring workflows, and strengthened trust between employers and candidates.

The principles we held to.

  1. 01Reduce friction at every step of the journey.
  2. 02Prioritize the information that drives a decision.
  3. 03Design for trust on both sides of the marketplace.
  4. 04Support candidates and employers equally — never optimize one at the cost of the other.
  5. 05Build patterns that scale as the marketplace grows.
Final Experience

The product.Revealed surface by surface.

Each part of the experience was organized around a user goal — discovery, storytelling, comparison, application, and responsiveness — and every decision was judged by the outcome it created for the people on both sides.

Finding relevant opportunities

Search built around how people actually evaluate roles

Problem

Candidates couldn't quickly surface opportunities that matched their experience.

Outcome

Candidates reached opportunities worth their time in a fraction of the previous effort.

Helping employers tell their story

Listings that let strong opportunities stand apart

Problem
Employers had no clear way to communicate what made their roles different.
Solution
A structured listing experience that gave employers space to convey culture, role context, and what mattered most.
Impact
Stronger listings attracted more qualified applicants and reduced wasted effort on both sides.

Comparing opportunities with confidence

A consistent hierarchy across every listing

Problem
Inconsistent information made comparing opportunities harder than it should have been.
Solution
A shared content model gave every listing the same scannable hierarchy, so candidates could compare options side by side.
Impact
Decision-making felt clearer, and candidates moved forward with more confidence.

A simpler application journey

Less friction between intent and action

Problem
Too many small frictions sat between a candidate's interest and a completed application.
Solution
Streamlined application flows that respected what candidates had already shared and asked only for what was meaningful.
Impact
More qualified candidates completed the journey instead of dropping off along the way.

Responsive experience

One marketplace, every device

Problem
Hiring happens on the move, but the experience didn't reliably meet candidates or employers where they were.
Solution
A responsive system designed mobile-first, with patterns that held up across listings, search, and dashboards.
Impact
Candidates and employers could engage with the marketplace anywhere — without compromise.

The Impact

The outcome.across the business.

hiring surface

One

Bringing candidates, operators, credentials, and roles into one connected aviation network.

matching

Precision

Type ratings, hours, currency, and region turned into a shared language the product could reason about.

trust

Verified

Credentials and operator profiles reinforced confidence at every step of the hiring journey.

operations

Clearer

Recruiters moved from scattered spreadsheets and inboxes into a single, calm operational view.

time to seat

Faster

Shorter distance between an open flight deck and the right professional to fill it.

for the industry

Built

A foundation shaped around business aviation—ready to scale to new roles, regions, and operator tiers.

BizJetJobs became more than a job board—it became the connective tissue between business aviation talent and the operators who depend on them. Every match, credential, and conversation flowed through one precise, professional surface that treated hiring with the same rigor the industry treats flight operations.

Reflection

What worked.What I'd build next.

What changed

Treating the platform as a marketplace from day one. Anchoring on trust, discovery, and balance gave every system — from search to listings to the design system — a shared product thesis to build against.

What surprised me

How much of the work was simply organizing complexity. Clarity didn't come from removing things; it came from arranging them in ways that felt obvious to the people using them.

What I'd build next

I'd invest earlier in balanced measurement across both sides of the marketplace. The qualitative signal was strong, but two-sided metrics would have sharpened every iteration even further.

Next Chapter

Let's build the nextsuccess story.

Every case study in this portfolio began with a complex problem, an ambitious team, and a decision to build something better. If you’re solving the next one, I’d love to help write its success story.
